A Farm Coming Full Circle
Galloway Park’s story begins in the hinterland of Byron Bay, near the village of Newrybar.
When the MacRae family purchased the property in the late 1970s, it was a cattle farm. Over the following decades, the land became part of a successful macadamia operation, with productive orchards established across the property while cattle continued to graze areas of open pasture.
After approximately 40 years of macadamia production, the farm is now coming full circle.
As ageing macadamia trees are progressively removed, areas of the property are being returned to grazing pasture — land well suited to raising cattle and continuing the farm’s agricultural story.
A Family Farming Tradition
Sue MacRae has been breeding cattle on the property for more than 40 years.
As additional pasture has become available, the herd has continued to grow, with Angus bulls — including Curly, Dickie and Elvis — becoming part of the farm’s story along the way.
Today, Galloway Park is developing into a genuinely multi-generational venture. Sue’s children and grandchildren are becoming increasingly involved, bringing together generations of farming experience with new ideas for the future.
It is a return to where the property began, but with a new generation helping shape what comes next.
From Paddock to Plate
The MacRae family’s approach to beef follows a principle they know well.
During their years in the macadamia industry, the family took an active role throughout the supply chain — from growing seedlings and managing orchards through to harvesting, processing and supplying customers around the world.
Galloway Park applies the same philosophy to beef.
By understanding and carefully managing each stage, from breeding and raising cattle through to processing, packing and ultimately supplying our customers, we can maintain a strong focus on provenance, care and quality throughout the journey.
